We took the girls to the Natural History Museum yesterday, What a great day out, but it was very busy. It was going to be a day away from all things chocolate, but it turns out that the museum owes its existence to a weathly London doctor, naturalist and collector Sir Hans Sloane (1660 -1773). Who in fact was the man who first marketed drinking chocolate in England.
Whilst in Jamaica he experienced a local drink made from cocoa beans, but found it very bitter. he added hot milk and sugar and created drinking chocolate.
Did you also know that drinking chocolate was first sold as a medicine. That is the sort of medicine I like!
